What is seiðr? It’s the ancient Norse practice of trance magic and spiritual journeying—a shamanic art involving altered states of consciousness to access hidden knowledge and divine power. Associated with the goddess Freyja herself, seiðr practitioners would enter ritual trance to prophesy, heal, and guide communities through spiritual transformation. For the first time in over a millennium, authentic seiðr elements will awaken within a contemporary classical concert, creating something unprecedented: an 85-minute neo-classical work where audience members transform from spectators to participants in collective spiritual experience.
Why Freya? She is the Norse goddess of love, magic, and war —a divine figure who claimed her power, chose her path, and inspired transformation in others. Her journey from cosmic birth to divine empowering mirrors our own potential for growth and self-discovery.
