Ancient Norse Magic Meets Cinematic Classical Music in Sardinia’s Stone Quarry
Freya: Seiðr Ritual Concert premieres June 6-7, 2026, offering 400 guests a transformative cultural and spiritual experience
MONTELEONE ROCCA DORIA, Sardinia – A limestone canyon overlooking Lake Temo will become a portal between worlds next summer when composer Roberto Campus and cultural anthropologist Jenn Campus premiere Freya: Seiðr Ritual Concert.
Blending Wagnerian grandeur with cinematic immediacy and authentic seiðr—the Old Norse shamanic practice of trance magic and spiritual journeying—this 85-minute chamber orchestra work invites just 400 guests across two performances to move from spectator to participant in a once-in-a-lifetime ritual musical experience.
Staged beneath open stars in the former quarry “Su Giardinu,” the experience unfolds in four acts tracing the goddess Freya’s journey from cosmic dawn to triumphant return. Audience members receive ritual objects, lift ancient hymns, and ultimately raise a golden feather illuminated by hundreds of amber lamps—a symbolic ignition of their own creative power.
“Freya is a call to remember who we really are,” says cultural director Jenn Campus. “The quarry’s stone walls provide cathedral-grade natural acoustics, while the seiðr elements create a sacred container for collective spiritual transformation and divine connection.”
International Swedish soprano [To Be Announced] will lead a 16-piece chamber orchestra, with guidance from respected seiðr practitioners ensuring authentic connection to Norse shamanic traditions and spiritual practices.
The intimate venue accommodates only 200 guests per night, creating an exclusive cultural pilgrimage for attendees traveling from across Europe and North America. Ninety percent of audience members are expected to be international travelers, with significant representation from the UK, Germany, Scandinavia, and North America.
“This represents a new category of cultural tourism,” explains Jenn Campus. “We’re creating space for profound personal experience within rigorous artistic excellence—something our audience of cultural travelers and spiritual explorers deeply values.”
